Why is the Sun so round? – Discover Magazine

We would expect the  Sun to have a bigger diameter at the equator than at the poles due to centrifugal forces. Instead it is almost a perfect sphere.  Our star is spending a considerable amount of time hanging above my head. Still, I never asked myself  this question.
